Privacy Policy

Your dreams are yours. Here is exactly what that means.

Effective July 25, 2026

The short version: Did You Dream? has no user accounts and no database of your dreams. Your journal lives on your device and in your private iCloud. When you use an AI feature, the text of that conversation is processed to generate a response and is not stored by us. We cannot read your dream journal. We designed it that way on purpose.

What lives only on your device

Your dreams, your conversations about them, your personal symbol library, your settings, and your optional first name are stored in the app on your iPhone. If you have iCloud enabled, this data also syncs to your personal, private iCloud database so it survives a new phone or a reinstall. That iCloud data is held under your Apple Account, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple, and is not accessible to us.

What is sent when you use AI features

When you analyze a dream or use any conversation mode, the app sends the text of that dream and conversation, along with your optional first name, to our server, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the response. Two things matter here:

Symbol tagging works the same way: dream text is processed to identify symbols, then the results are stored only on your device.

Voice

Dictation uses Apple's speech recognition. On devices that support it, transcription happens entirely on your device. Where on-device recognition is unavailable, audio may be processed by Apple per their speech recognition terms. We never receive or store audio.

What we can see

This website

didyoudream.com uses a self-hosted instance of Plausible, a privacy-respecting analytics tool. It counts visits without cookies, without cross-site tracking, and without collecting personal information. No advertising or third-party trackers are on this site.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and your on-device data goes with it. To remove synced data, delete the app's data from iCloud in Settings, iCloud, Manage Storage. Because we hold no copy of your journal, there is nothing further for us to delete.

Children

Did You Dream? is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the update will be posted here with a new effective date. Since the architecture is the privacy policy, meaningful changes would come with meaningful notice.
